Just paint it white! Well "which white" is always the question.
There are hundreds of whites to choose. What is a girl to do? White paint choices may seem easy, but they can go wrong very fast.
Today I am going to tell you why it is so important to choose the correct white….and which ones we like.
Choosing paint color is the last step in making a room come together. The color must be chosen off of the hard finishes, rugs, artwork and furniture.
If you are looking for a monochromatic paint scheme, the different finishes with the same paint color makes the room look like it is painted different colors. You can use flat for the ceiling, eggshell for the walls and satin for the trim and baseboards.
Each color of white has an undertone. This is why not every white will work in the space you are painting.
1. Chantilly Lace is the cleanest white color in the universe because it has no warm or cool undertones. This clean white is great for walls, but also makes the perfect trim or ceiling color. ... We use this color as a baseline comparison for all other whites.
2. White Dove is a warmer white rather than a cool. It is not overly warm or yellow looking either. White Dove is a completely versatile color, suitable for trim, kitchen cabinets as well as walls. White Dove can also be used as both the wall and trim colors at the same time, with preferably different sheen textures, to make a room appear taller.
3. Decorators White, on the other hand, falls under a cool undertone of an off-white. It contains a little gray, creating an off-white option that doesn’t lean in any particular color tone, but it’s a softer version of a pure white such as Chantilly Lace. This particular shade of white is a good option for trim colors when combined with grays.
